Brake testing equipment
Approved for MoT testing, the new 2011 Boston range of braketesters are the latest and most technologically advanced equipment available.
They enable fast and accurate brake testing for motorcycles, cars and light commercial vehicles including four wheel drive.
All models boast a host of features and are controlled by Boston's new and unique feature-packed SW900 software. With immediate remote assistance, vehicle registration mark (VRM) lookup, automatic software updates, complete customer database and much more, SW900 is the market leader in control software.*
Features include both analogue and digital display of readings, automatic calculation of brake efficiency, RF remote control operation, dual directional operation, 4 wheel drive testing (rollers operate in opposite directions), motorcycle testing (optional), ovality testing, results printing with full company details and company logo, weighing scales (optional) and wall or pedestal mounting. Secondary displays from 22" - 60" can simply be added to enable easy viewing from a distance.
Boston has a range of Global Control Platforms to suit the need of each and every customer. All platforms use our new hi-spec industrial PC with internal Wifi as standard enabling simple connection to customers own Wifi networks for use with OSS, our new online support service.
The control platforms are not only used for braketesters, but for all other electronic products in the boston range; for example, emissions, headlight testing, side-slip testing, suspension testing, weigh bridges etc.. There are several different configurations to satisfy different workshop layouts, see below.-
- GCP1 - A wall mounted control system for test bays where space is a premium
- GCP2 - The control system is housed inside our standard rolling cabinet stand
- GCP3 - This configuration uses our premium rolling ‘drum-style’ stand
- GCP4 - A fixed-at-base workshop control centre
All GCP control systems are supplied with our new SW900 control software as standard, offering a host of unique and novel features unrivalled in the UK market.

The new D402 is the latest and highest specification MoT Class 4 braketester on the market. In standard configuration, the D402 can be used as a stand alone braketester for use in traditional MoT bays. It can also be upgraded at anytime with a four point weighing system to enable motorcycle testing and making it compatible with the new ATL One Man Test from VOSA.
The chassis is manufactured to a very high standard and easily deals with the exteme demands of modern day testing stations. It has a load capacity of 3000kg and the whole test can be operated wirelessly using an RF remote control (no line-of-site required).

The D403 is our new split–bed Class 4 MoT approved braketester. Specifically designed to fit the same concrete recesses as many of the very early models in the market, it has been introduced to minimise the down-time required when replacing old models for new.
For some early models, the installation is a straightforward 'swap' of roller beds, eliminating the need for any extra civil work. The simple installation can often be carried out in just a few hours.
Just like the D402 and D702, the D403 is built to the highest specification and is operated using the same control platform. In standard configuration, the D403 can be used as a stand alone braketester for use in traditional MoT bays, but can also be upgraded at anytime with an eight point weighing system to enable motorcycle testing and making it compatible with the new ATL One Man Test from VOSA.
The D403 has a 2500kg axle load capacity allowing it to perform effortlessly day-in day-out with heavy duty workloads. Similar to the D702, the chassis are a split bed configuration providing extra flexibility when designing MoT bays, and making it very popular as a modern replacement for early obsolete models.

The new D702 is our Class 7 MoT approved roller braketester. Just like the D402 and D403, it is of the highest specification and is operated using the same control platform. In standard configuration, the D702 can be used as a stand alone braketester for use in traditional MoT bays. All models are PC controlled and are fully compatible (using USB or wireless Bluetooth) with our emissions testing equipment and other PC based Boston products. All models are approved for the new VOSA ATL 'One Man' testing scheme and can easily be upgraded at any time.
